Stored per machine, not per account

Settings are stored per machine rather than per tAI account. Signing in to the same account on a second machine starts that new machine with tCode's own defaults, not whatever was previously configured on the first one.

The one deliberate exception is the code theme, which is synced through your account specifically because the tAI web app also reads and displays it, so keeping it consistent across surfaces genuinely matters.

Everything else, effort level and auto-approve in particular, is treated as a property of the machine's own local environment rather than something that should silently follow you to a new device.

This is a deliberate safety property as much as a technical one: auto-approve especially is not something that should silently transfer to a new machine you have not yet configured deliberately, since that machine's trust level for a given tool has not actually been established there yet.

If you regularly work across multiple machines and want consistent settings on all of them, the practical approach is setting them the same way once on each, rather than expecting them to sync automatically; there is currently no cross-machine sync mechanism beyond the one code-theme exception.
